First Allocation template

This first allocation template only applies to organisations that are requesting their first IPv4 allocation from APNIC. This template is used to establish that the organisation meets the criteria for an initial allocation of IPv4 address space.

If this is not the organisation's first request for an IPv4 allocation from APNIC, please enter "N/A" (not applicable) in the fields for this template.

Minimum allocation criteria (min-criteria)

The min-criteria attribute is used to indicate that you have read and understood the minimum criteria for an initial IPv4 allocation.

The minimum criteria for an initial IPv4 allocation

To be eligible to obtain an initial allocation, an organisation must:

  • have used a /23 from their upstream provider or demonstrate an immediate need for a /23;
  • have complied with applicable policies in managing all address space previously allocated to it;
  • demonstrate a detailed plan for use of a /22 within a year; and
  • commit to renumber from previously deployed space into the new address space within one year.

Note, you may be asked to fax copies of invoices to APNIC to verify your network equipment details.

Acceptable entries for this attribute are:

  • YES (meaning you have read and do understand these criteria)
  • NO (meaning you do not understand the criteria)
  • N/A (meaning this does not apply because this is not the first IPv4 allocation request by this organisation)

Note, if you answer NO, APNIC will not be able to proceed with your application. You should read the criteria again and contact hostmaster@apnic.net if you have any questions.

Example:

min-criteria: YES

Intended renumbering date (renumber-date)

The renumber-date attribute indicates when you plan to return any currently-held IPv4 address to your upstream provider and renumber your network into the address range to be allocated by APNIC.

If you already hold address space, you will be required to return that address space and renumber your network into the addresses APNIC allocates. You must commit to do this within one year of receiving the allocation from APNIC.

If this is not the first IPv4 allocation request by this organisation, or if the organisation does not currently hold any address space, enter N/A.

The date should be in the format of YYYYMMDD (YYYY - year, MM - month, and DD - day, all values 0 filled).

Example:

renumber-date: 20021213

Organisation receiving returned space (renumber-org)

The renumber-org attribute identifies the organisation to which you will return any currently held IPv4 address space.

Please provide the organisation name, the contact person at that organisation, telephone number, and the email address. When evaluating any future requests for address space, APNIC may check with the organisations listed here to confirm that the original address space was returned.

If this is not the first IPv4 allocation request by this organisation, or if the organisation does not currently hold any address space, enter N/A.

The renumber-org should be in the following format:

<org name> <contact name> <phone number> <email address>
  • org name is the name of the organisation
  • contact name is the name of the contact person at that organisation who can verify that the address range is to be returned
  • phone number is the telephone number for that contact person
    (+<international code>-<area/city code>-<exchange>-<subscriber>)
  • email address is the valid email address for that contact person

Example:

renumber-org: WAH-ISP Josh Lyn +60-20-1233-4676 josh@wahoo.net

Address range to be returned (prefix)

The prefix attribute identifies the IPv4 address ranges that will be returned to the upstream ISP.

Please all the address ranges you currently hold, using normal slash notation. Use a separate line for each address range.

If this is not the first IPv4 allocation request by this organisation, or if the organisation does not currently hold any address space, enter N/A.

Example:

prefix: 202.10.12.0/23

Note, that if you currently have address space from an upstream provider, you will also need to outline how you have used these addresses in the "infrastructure" and/or "customer-network" attributes in the ISP Technical template.
