Wouldn't now be a good time to start thinking of a new system?? I see from things like the fee discussion that stuff takes a very long time in the RIR and NIR space to get done. Maybe APNIC can clarify if the intent is to turn it off tomorrow or guide people through some phased transition? Does "Bad for us" also cover you members?
