[sig-policy] Summary of Policy SIG at Kyoto



Dear All,

 

I'd like to post the summary of last policy SIG meeting on behalf of Policy SIG chair and co-chairs.

 

We had the meeting at Kyoto on 24th Feb 2005.

- there were 74 participants in session 1, and 82 participants in session 2

-1 policy proposal and 8 informational presentations

 

1. The second phase of large space IPv4 trial usage program for future IPv6 deployment

   Kosuke Ito and Yoshiyuki Ezura

   The proposal include

   (1)extend the program end to the end of 2008 from the current end at the end of 2005

   (2)set the following conditions to the participants of this program

      a. need to show IPv6 service starting plan

      b. make the activity report periodically as like now

      c. conclude the agreement describing the condition set as like now

      d. plan to return 43/8 block to APNIC

   (3)IPv6 PC will continue to the regular report on the activity as is at the APNIC meeting

   The proposal reached consensus at the policy SIG meeting and AMM

 

2. Expanded address allocation for private Internets, Tony Hain

Allocate additional IPv4 /8’s for private use : draft-hain-1918bis-01.txt

 

3. An update on 'Unique local IPv6 unicast addresses‘, Geoff Huston

Private Use addresses

(1)Large pool divided into IDs of /48s

(2)Use random selection to minimize selection collision of IDs

 

4.Status update on policy implementation, Son Tran

 

5.IANA to RIR IPv6 regional policy update, Anne Lord

 

6.IANA to RIR IPv6 policy document overview, Ray Plzak

(1)Allocation size /12

(2)18 months time frame

 

7.Update on the IPv4 guidelines, Mars Chih-hua Wei, Yi Lee

Action : APNIC secretariat to update IPv4 guideline document

 

8. ISP survey project update, Anne Lord

 

9.A survey of ISPs in Taiwan for applying HD ration to IPv4, David Chen

 

10. Election of Chair

(1)One nomination : Kenny Huang

(2)Action : Secretariat will call for co-chair
