RE: [sig-ipv6]Let's restart discussion about RIPE-261 [long]



As a reply to Gert Doering on the RIPE LIR mailing list, I recently
proposed an alternative method to delegate space to RIRs. The main goal
behind this proposal is to comply with the following:

These days communities in BGP fill that role. I'm really not sure that
would should attempt to squeeze the address genie to fit into that
particular bottle. i.e. attempting to place a geopolitical constraint
of address prefixes is an unresolved concept right now, and while
I read with interest the notional carve up of address space in
Michel's posting, I fit it uncomfortable to see how this could
fit within the policy-rich world of network paths and provider
interactions.
