[sig-db] Summary of DB SIG from APNIC 20
Dear colleagues
The DB SIG was held today during APNIC 20 in Hanoi.
We had a very short agenda today, with only one report. Sanjaya from
APNIC reported on the progress of two previous items. Regarding the
proposal [prop025-v001] to add support in the APNIC Whois database
for IPv6 IRR, the original target for implementation was April 2005,
but this was delayed because of some technical issues in customising
the software. Testing is now underway (testwhois.apnic.net) and the
Secretariat plans to move it to production service after additional
public testing. This is expected to complete by late September 2005.
Regarding the proposal [prop026-v001] to provide a summarised form of
address assignment statistics, the Secretariat now publishes daily
reports to ftp.apnic.net/stats/apnic/assigned-apnic-yyyymmdd. These
reports do not include customer information, but still allow
researchers to perform statistical analysis. Sanjaya encouraged the
NIRs to consider publishing statistics in the same format, to allow
the full picture of the regional assignment situation to be seen.
Proposal for IRR mirroring policy (prop-003-v002) is withdrawn by the
proposer.
There are no outstanding action items.
Sanjaya's presentation from the SIG is available from:
http://www.apnic.net/meetings/20/programme/sigs/db.html
Minutes will be available within 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, an
unedited transcript of the session will be published within 24 hours at:

Comments or questions are welcome also from those who were not able to
attend the session.
Kind regards
Xing Li
