The NRO Number Council

The NRO Number Council was established in October 2004 under a MoU negotiated between the Number Resource Organization (NRO) and ICANN, and is made up of representatives from each of the five RIRs.

Each of the RIR regions fills three positions on the Number Council. Of these three positions, one is filled by the RIR's Executive Council; the person chosen for this position acts as a representative for the RIR, reporting regularly to their EC.

The remaining two positions from each region are selected by the regional policy forum. These members of the Number Council do not represent any RIR, nor do they act as representatives of any other body.

For more information on the NRO Number Council and its responsibilities, see the Number Council page on the NRO website, or go to the NRO FAQ page.

NRO Number Council elections

The election of an Asia Pacific representative to the NRO Number Council takes place annually, in conjunction with APNIC Open Policy Meetings, with each elected member serving a two-year term.

The next election will be held as part of the 26th APNIC Open Policy Meeting, in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Friday 29 August 2008.
